The International Polytechnic for Industrial and Economic Development (PISIE) is a NGO specialised in technical assistance, training and international cooperation; it studies and researches about emerging industrial sectors in developing countries.
Since 1977, PISIE enstablished a strong relationship of collaboration with a various number of international bodies, such as UNIDO, ITC, CDE, World Bank, specialising in designing technology centres, schools/laboratories of industrial integration, professional training.
The original agroindustrial background, comprehensive of aquaculture and fishing industry, poultry farming and zootechny, agriculture and food preserves, improves and specialises with time, focusing on two sectors:
- the leather industry and its derivates, such as footwear, tannery, leather manufactures and clothing;
- the textile industry, machines and technologies.
A permanent staff, of national and international consultants, works for PISIE. Each of this experts focuses on a specific sector, working closely together with ASSOMAC (National Association of Italian Manufacturers of Footwear, Leathergoods and Tanning Technologies) and ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers).
